For my Final Major Project at the BRIT School studying Digital Arts, I created a fake Comic Campaign for a story about the beginning of the world through the perspective of entities, and the tragedy that unfolds from their own naivety and jealousy. These are some key pages from a scene of the comic, I didn't have time during the project to make the pages in chronological order, so stuck with quality over quantity. I would really like to make this into a comic in the future.
The story is a tragedy that follows two beings created from nothing, one who embodies and controls creation, life and light; and the other being the opposite: destruction, death and darkness. They learn to work harmoniously and slowly they form a deep connection with each other. This will all be set in the early days, where nothing else exists but light and dark. The life entity(Alyra) starts to create creatures, environments and eventually civilisation. And the death entity(Rivian) becomes increasingly more isolated and melancholy as he realises that nothing will ever be like him, everything around him dies at his touch, so he can only watch from afar as the beauty of the world blossoms. This eats away at him and his relationship with Alyra becomes strained and bitter. Eventually, he leaves her to go off and find out who he is, his isolation suffocates him. And he discovers the Duskborn, they are her failed attempts at creating life, she is ashamed of them and so trapped them/ hid them from the world. He finds them and finds solace in their loneliness, he makes them feel special and loved and celebrate their differences. When Alyra finds out, she is mortified as she sees them as her worst failures and abominations, she is also consumed by jealousy at how much he loves these flawed beings. She implores him to kill them and when he doesn't, she does. This leads to the natural balance of the world being disrupted and chaos ensues. The only way for order to be restored is for the two entities to fit into a specific box, so he ascends to an entity of life, whilst she becomes death. Their roles reversed in a tragic turn of events that leads to an eternity of unnecessary bloodshed and war, which ends in them both sacrificing themselves.
